How dragonborn names work in D&D
Dragonborn value their clan above their individual self. A full name is a personal name plus a clan name — and the clan names are deliberately long, ancient, and hard to pronounce (Clethtinthiallor, Verthisathurgiesh) because they descend from the first dragonborn. Why are the clan names so long?
By design. Dragonborn clan names are meant to sound ancient and draconic — long, syllable-dense, and a little intimidating. If you want something shorter for everyday use, just go by the personal name.
Male vs female dragonborn names?
The personal-name pool includes both (Rhogar, Torinn and Akra, Farideh). The clan name is gender-neutral. Reroll until the personal name fits.
